    About Us

Meet our Senior Team

Little Beehive Nursery was established in Cupar in 1997. The nursery was originally called Busy Bee Nursery, but a rebrand took place in 2016 and so we became “Little Beehive Nursery”. Since 1997 there has been steady organic growth of the nursery group. With five nurseries based in Cupar, Newport, Kirkcaldy, Montrose and Strathkinness making up the Little Beehive Family. We are now one of the biggest pre-schools in Fife.

Hi everyone! My name’s Amanda Carlin and I’ve been working as an in early years practitioner for 11 years, joining the team here at Little Beehive Nursery in 2011. I work in early years because I find it such a rewarding job, I love making a positive difference in children’s lives. It’s amazing to be part of the journey children go on when learning and exploring through play.

My vision for the nursery is to ensure that all children have a happy and safe place to play and learn. To encourage and promote outdoor play, learning and development through natural resources and open ended play. To develop strong partnerships with the local community, outside agencies and to support and promote children’s rights. I am currently studying for my BA in childhood practice at Edinburgh University which I’m due to complete this April.

    Hi, I'm Faye!

I first began working in early years back in 2002 when I embarked on a career as a childminder, during this time I cared for over twenty-five children. I continued to do this until 2015 when I joined Little Beehive Nursery as Lead Practitioner.  In 2016 I completed my SVQ Level 4 and I am currently working towards a BA in Childhood Practice at Edinburgh University.  I come from a large family with four sisters and three brothers; I believe this is where my love of childcare stems from. My vision is to nurture happy children to develop a love for learning, enabling them to feel respected, healthy and confident. In doing so, my hope is for them to become responsible individuals who are inspired to make a difference in our community. I have been married for 22 years and have two older children, who I love to spend time with. In my spare time I enjoy running, singing in a choir, reading, listening to music and watching movies.

Perfect Solutions for Little People

  • Ethos

Little Beehive Nursery thrives on a child-centred ethos that allows children to make their own choices. Children are encouraged to establish their own ideas towards prompting competent communication and learning.  The core of child-centred education is to help the child become independent, responsible and confident. Practitioners who use this approach want to cover all areas of growth including social, emotional and physical. Child-centred practitioners engage in an 'active learning' process, with the aim of helping the child develop the knowledge and skills needed in all competency areas. Child-centred education inspires and encourages children to explore what they are most curious about. Children direct their own learning; fostering a curiosity that will stick with them for life. Every child responds better to a different learning style. The child’s ideas, preferences, and curiosities are all taken into account.

Child-centred education inspires children to want to learn by giving them the steering wheel to their own educational path. This style of learning helps children become more independent. Children learn to direct their fascinations, ask questions and work on their own as well as part of a group. Children-centred education emphasises the importance of group work. This is done by encouraging children to collaborate on activities that broaden their minds. This approach considers the act of play as a type of work or lesson. When children play, they consistently learn, hence Little Beehive Nursery's ethos - 'Learn through Play'

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does your invoicing work?
    • We want to make the experience at Little Beehive as stress free as possible which is why we invested in “Famly”, our nursery management software.  Famly will generate your invoice every month and upload it to your secure account.  Parents can download the Famly mobile app which will allow you to view your nursery account details including all invoicing and payment history.

Parents can choose between annualised invoking (same amount every month) or actual attendance invoicing (you pay for what you use that month).

Parents can setup a Direct Debit using Famly, ensuring your nursery invoice is paid on time.

Parents can pay by bank transfer, card payment, cash or Direct Debit.

The first month’s fees must be paid prior to your child starting nursery.

We are a Fife Council nursery partner, which can mean you can claim up to 1140 hours of free childcare a year at our nurseries and pre-schools in Fife.
